about
I found this rough recording today, of a song I wrote several years ago...I felt a gentle nudge suggesting I share it--so here it is.
It's funny how sometimes it takes years before I fully understand the deeper meaning of the songs I write...turns out this one is about returning to yourself, again and again, to the deepest, wisest part of you--and taking care of yourself with gentleness and love.
Hope you enjoy hearing this version (recorded on my phone). It's rough alright, but there is something liberating and real about sharing myself, my song and my voice in such a raw way.
Come stow away with me, we’ll drift out on that big blue sea
And I will keep you company, nowhere else I’d rather be...
I know the tide is rising; this life can really toss and turn you
But I’m right here and I will return to you, again and again
‘Til we’re sailing high above, hand in hand in this great love
Sailing high above, look up, look up-look up
A pretty bird will sing, pretty bird will fly
Pretty bird’s gonna carry us upon her wings so don’t you cry
Just breathe into your heart, so deep and soft and true
Let the waves come one by one, let them wash right over you
I know the tide is rising; this life can really toss and turn you
But I’m right here and I will return to you, again and again
Til we’re sailing high above, hand in hand in this great love
Sailing high above, look up, look up-look up
A pretty bird will sing, pretty bird will fly
Pretty bird’s gonna carry us upon her wings up to the sky
Come stow away with me, we’ll drift out on that big blue sea
And I will keep you company, nowhere else I’d rather be...
